Mehmet Özkasım Born in 1926 in Arhavi/Turkey. Married and has three children. As he was only one year old, he moved with his family to İstanbul. He studied until the 2nd year of the high school at Haydarpaşa Lisesi/ İstanbul. Afterwards his is involved in the trade of lumber. This activity has helped him in developing his talent of processing wood. In 1992 he has given lectures about ship modelling at the Beylerbeyi Marine High School and between 1993-95 İstanbul technical Univercity, Ship Construction Faculty. His models are included in private collections in İstanbul, Ankara, Tel- Aviv and Jordan. In 1978 Özkasım has won first prizes for his 3 models. In 1980 he has won in the same area a second prize. In 1995 he has won two golden medals with his dockyard and Alamana models. At the Naviga European Championship a bronze medal in Romania /Constanta. Between 1978-1996 his various work of arts have been displayed in 16 joint exhibitions. He is a member of "Ship modelling and Ship Lovers Association"
